The short version: Plantein is local-first. Your meals, weight, medication schedule, and side-effect logs live on your iPhone. There are no accounts, no ads, no data sale, and no cross-app tracking.
When you scan a meal, Plantein compresses the photo on your device and sends it over an encrypted connection to our scan API for meal recognition. The photo is used transiently to answer that request and is not stored after recognition. Do not include people, documents, or other sensitive material in meal photos.
Meals, protein totals, weight, medication schedule, injection logs, and side-effect logs are stored local-first on your device. If you connect Apple Health, Plantein reads and writes only through iOS permission prompts. HealthKit data is not used for ads or marketing.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple in-app purchase / StoreKit. Plantein does not receive your payment card details. Purchase and restore actions are used only to unlock Plantein Pro features.
Scan requests include an anonymous install identifier used for scan quota and abuse prevention, plus operational telemetry such as request status, latency, and error type. Server logs must not store image data, model keys, full image hashes, or user health history.
You can delete the app to remove local data from your device. You can revoke camera, notification, or Health access anytime in iOS Settings. For questions, contact [email protected].
